MCSoC Forum

About the MCSoC Forum

History, aims & scope, global reach, and topics of interest.

History

Founded in 2004 at The University of Electro-Communications (UEC), Tokyo, Japan, the forum was originally held as the International Workshop on Systems-on-Chips (SoCs) for its 2004 and 2006 editions, before being renamed MCSoC starting with its 2007 edition. Over more than two decades since, it has grown into a global platform for advancing research, innovation, and collaboration in multicore and many-core system-on-chip technologies. Bringing together researchers and industry specialists across architecture, design, compilers, and embedded systems, it has become one of the field's most recognized venues, gathering scientists, engineers, and industry leaders from all over the world each year. Its growth into a leading international venue reflects the sustained contributions of the many researchers, organizers, and volunteers who have supported it over the years.

Since 2026, MCSoC has also featured two global summits held alongside the main symposium — the MCSoC‑NeuroCore Global Summit on Neuromorphic Systems and Brain‑Inspired Computing, and the MCSoC‑EmbodiCore Global Summit on Embodied AI and Distributed Autonomous Systems — creating new opportunities for collaboration across academia, industry, and government.

Aims & Scope

The forum serves as a multidisciplinary platform for discussion on the latest innovations in embedded systems and integrated circuit (IC) design, with particular attention to sustainable technological development. Its technical program includes keynote lectures, technical tracks, and specialized sessions covering heterogeneous architectures, energy-efficient computing, network-on-chip technologies, embedded artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Global Reach

Over the years, the forum has been hosted across the world, including Japan, Austria, France, Italy, South Korea, the United States, China, Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia — reflecting its international reach and the breadth of its research community.
